Randolph T. Shields Collection
This collection includes American Civil War recollections of Shields' maternal grandfather, Coupland Randolph Page, including his service with the Liberty Hall Volunteers, the Stonewall Brigade, and the Battle of Gettysburg. In addition, papers contain significant documents about members of the Tucker family, including John Randolph Tucker and Judge Henry St. George Tucker.
Raymond J. Kirby collection
This collection consists of three scrapbooks and sets of photographs taken by Raymond J. Kirby. The scrapbooks contain photographs and newspaper clippings related to the flooding that occurred as a result of Hurricane Camille in August 1969. The photographs document damage from both Rockbridge and Nelson Counties and the City of Lexington. The collection also includes approximately 170 photographs of the construction of the Route 11 corridor bypass around Lexington, Virginia.

His diary describes Fleming's flight to Augusta, Ga. after the fall of Richmond, guarding the specie of the Confederate treasury. There is also a furlough permit, May 2, 1865, signed by Commandant William H. Parker.

A carte de visite sized engraving of General John B. Floyd in uniform by engraver 'Chas. Magnus, 12 Frankfort St, NY.' The image of Floyd is bordered by a decorative red oval. It resembles a trading card. Floyd was 31st governor of Virginia and a Confederate general in the American Civil War.

In this letter from Stephen Dill Lee to Mrs. Gray, dated 1904 from Columbus, Missippi, Lee thanks Mrs. Gray for her kind Christmas letter and writes that it caused him to recall events from the American Civil War era, during which he served with her husband.
